Finding a new foodie website. Excitement.
Goldbely.com. Let’s just get this out there right now. You can surf over to this new foodie website and leave this little post in the dust. But, really, let us rave for just a moment.
We are in love with Nene’s Treats – the most incredible crumb cakes, from Nene’s Treats in Charleston, SC – and Goldbely.com, a self-proclaimed “Epic Food Shipped Nationwide” resource, sells Nene’s Birthday Crumb Cake, among other items from Nene’s crumb cake heaven.
(Sidebar: Why not? Really, even if just once, you need to do this, for yourself, for someone in the office, for someone you love, for… anyone who has a birthday coming up, just so you can indulge.)
But, we digress. Goldbely is a cool new foodie website (for us, at least), as we’d never run into it before today. Small-ish, mom-n-pop, or just mom-shops, can sell on GoldBely, a website that aggregates America’s top food makers. There is an interesting collection of both small food purveyors and artisanal food stores that wouldn’t have access to e-commerce opportunities without a prohibitive expense, as well as well-known brands.
If you are a fan of gourmet gift shopping online, or just up for a food adventure via your keyboard, this site is lots of fun.
You can search by what is in season, or by region, and even for special holidays, like Father’s Day. And you can purchase from multiple food stores online and pay with just one shopping cart. Cool foodie convenience. There’s not a LOT of foodie sites here, but the selection is really interesting. You might discover something you hadn’t heard of before.
Add their website features, like “corporate gifts” and “customer care,” and it’s an online win. If you sign up for Goldbely (Gold Belly? Snicker. We keep hearing James Bond), you get immediate access to the best artisan and homemade foods in really lots and lots of cities across the U.S., all available for online ordering and shipping. Fees and handling are pretty reasonable, which can sometimes be a deal-breaker, too, when shopping new foodie websites online.
When you sign up for their notifications, the acknowledgement is “Show Me the Food,” so what could go wrong? And North Carolina is a “Top State,” so they’ve got me, hooked.
Here are some of the North Carolina food stores listed on Goldbely.com:
- King’s BBQ, Kinston
- French Broad Chocolates, Asheville
- Johnston County Hams, Smithfield
- Appalchia Cookie Company, Boone
If you are a transplant from up north, you will find listings that pull on your foodie heartstrings.
For example, Chicago is in the Goldbely.com house, with Vienna Beef Hot Dogs, Gino’s East, Lou Malnati’s, and Chicago Steak Company. With a nod to my Finnish grandmother, I just found O&H Danish Bakery, offering the best kringle from Racine, Wisconsin. This was the breakfast treat from my childhood.
Have some fun – check out this new foodie website and let us know what you find. Because food via your keyboard is the quickest way to everyone’s heart.
