Strawberry Pecan Clafouti
Strawberry pecan clafouti is a lovely French dessert, perfect for a spring luncheon or picnic. Casual, serve the clafouti right from the baking dish with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup chopped Pecans
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup turbinado sugar
- 1 1/2 cups half and half
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Butter to grease baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 F. Butter the bottom and sides of a deep pie plate – you will serve from this dish as well, so choose a pretty one! Layer the strawberries on the bottom of the dish. Sprinkle chopped pecans across the top of the strawberries.
- Combine flour, sugar and salt in a bowl. Lightly beat eggs in another bowl. Whisk half and half and vanilla into the beaten eggs. Pour the egg mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring quickly to avoid lumps.
- Pour the custard over the strawberries and pecans in the pie dish.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the edges are set and nicely browned. The center of your strawberry pecan clafouti will be soft-set. Cool before serving.
